Brief CV

S. Roche is an ICREA Research Professor working at the Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology-ICN and CIN2 in Barcelona. He is leading the “Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience” group of ICN which focuses on the understanding of quantum transport phenomena from the molecular to the mesoscopic scales.
After studying Theoretical Physics in the Université Joseph-Fourier (UJF) and Ecole Normale Supérieure in France, he received a Ph.D. in Physics in 1996 working at the French CNRS. After several postdocs in Japan and Spain (funded by Japanese JSPS and the European Commission), he was appointed in 2000 as a Professor Assistant at the UJF and as a CEA Researcher in 2004. During his stay at the Institut of Nanosciences and Cryogenics of CEA, he supervised the “simulation platform” of the CHEMTRONICS program, the preparation of the NANOSIMULATION program. In 2009, he was awarded the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel prize from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany)
